About the event
Cha Guo 茶粿 is a short documentary by Daphné Mandel and Guy Bertrand that captures the resilience and dedication of a Hong Kong village community. Nestled between the towering finance hubs of Hong Kong and the tech-driven metropolis of Shenzhen, this hidden world thrives with craftsmen, farmers, and business owners preserving generations-old traditions. Through their stories, the film celebrates the enduring “Made in Hong Kong” spirit and the connections between past and present, much like the homemade tea cake—cha guo—shared across generations.
